Right white right?

I have recently had another look into white balance, and the wonders that I skirt around the edges of while trying to capture the world I live with through a lens.

Since my last adventure - two things are most notable - the inclusion of colour management into Linux with the aptly named gnome-color-manager and the rather more powerful dispcalgui and on the other side of the equation how black is black... in the case of an LED screen - quite a lot more black than you are used to. 'The Island'

For all my mocking sometimes Anglesey can be one of the most breathtaking places. Okay so there is better Irish phone signal at time, no one wants to deliver ADSL there, and you have to keep an eye out for large white weather balloons that will take you back to the village.... this aside... some good weather, and just breath it in. Go explore.

Mostly changeable

Sunday: I headed outside in a Sunday afternoon pint in hand manner to find that I was walking out into the big blue room, where a distant burning sun was radiating warmth and blinding light. Eventually squinting gave way to normal sight, and I was glad of my short sleeved shirt. I found myself saying "this is almost like Summer" - and it was.
Tuesday: Rain fell outside the window in that pathetic mist type way that I swear goes up and sideways and everything making for wet walls, windows, everything. Nasty day to be out and about. August. Aesop's fables revisited.
Below: A swatch of each - British Summertime.

Limbo

I am hooked. I admit it. Okay - so its not the graphics, its not an evolution, but its the little things - the gameplay, the investment in solving the issue. Working the problem. Limbo has won me over with its ever-so-ever-so dark world of silhouettes, mist, and light, and sounds that stitch it all together for me.

Fixified.

I can be a wasteful person. Then again sometimes I set my mind on something and I am imoveable. This is often the case for fixing things which I like to think in some way redresses the balance.

This evening, armed with some new fabric, an industrial staple gun, a screwdriver, some industrial spray glue, and a bunch of motivation I gave my trusty Ikea office chair a lease of new, and accidentally colour coordinated life. More over, I did a good job - FTW,

"Come to the coast, have a few laughts...."

Earlier this week I was looking through some threads on Gimp* regarding plugins when I was presented with this XKCD cartoon. It amused.

So for all of those who get fobbed off with the "I am a glorified typist" - here is another angle:

Drip Drip Drop...

An august day of alternating sunshine and heavy rain like something out of Aesop's stories. Should we be moving the whole Summer thing to March/June now maybe? The last few nights riding home from work - headlamps starting to show up on the road. Sure, I appreciate it is not 'thud' suddenly dark - but still - early August with sunset at 2045? Harumph! Rhuddlan Castle Rocks

The 90's visits my town - and thanks to the nice people at CADW a 1000 people attend a charity concert within an olde English castle. [ READ MORE ]

Dungeness

Finally got around to processing pictures of my trip down to Dungeness with my Father earlier in March. It's a veritable photographers playground of texture, colour, detail and decay - and also - really exposed. Brrrrr! More pictures from the Dungeness set here.
