Evolution is a beautiful thing, okay, so it corrects itself, and it takes its sweet time - but then, then sometimes you see something and you wonder 'why?'

As you can see here pooch is wearing a fleece and Vibram soled shoes (yes not just shoes, but non slip ones).

Okay so this was in a mountaineering / outdoor equipment shop in Betws Y Coed - but none the less, it does beg the question - why? Sure, broken slate, marble, basalt, granite and the like are pretty harsh substances to be moving over... but... it's a dog?

As for the fleece, well don't get me started - years of evolving fur with different layers to trap warm air, oil to render it mildly hydrophobic, breathable, moisture transport away from the skin...... and.... you go and wrap that in a no doubt wet layer of oil based plastic synthetic fleece. Win.

None the less - it was quite the thing to observe... and joins the rest of the captures from an afternoon spent mooching around Betws with friends. More pictures from the set can be found here [flickr].
