Dog with shoes

Evolution is a beautiful thing, okay, so it corrects itself, and it takes its sweet time - but then, then sometimes you see something and you wonder 'why?'

As you can see here pooch is wearing a fleece and Vibram soled shoes (yes not just shoes, but non slip ones). [ READ MORE ]

Turkey

Yes yes, I *know* it is out of focus, but I still like it. Alas I have a number of very similar images, all of which, just that little too soft around the edges. Life is like that it would seem; so I am embracing this as still pretty damned fine as it is. So there. Nerrr :p

RAW unprocessed image backlog continues to mount - however I have made a small dent in it with a set from Turkey, Kusadasi, and Ephesus - the pick of the bunch can be seen here in this flickr set. [ READ MORE ]

Venezia

I have to say that returning to somewhere like Venice, we are both fortunate in opportunity and in that it allows you to just mooch - as opposed to map clutching speed walking like a crazed orienteer. Florence was a similar experience - far more ice cream, smiles, and distraction. More of what holidays are all about. [ READ MORE ]

Good light

This last weekend I took a walk out with friends to clear away some cobwebs. Having downgraded the plan for the steeper ascent of Moel Hiraddug, we headed over the trig point on Graig Fawr (big rock) which is clearly visible (if a little very tiny) from the living room.

RAF Cosford

On our way back from Brecon we made a subtle barely perceptible out of our way journey over to RAF Cosford - Training and Research, most notably, and our goal for the day, the RAF Museum (rivalled only by Duxford - the Imperial War Museums Aviation Museum).

Jodrell Bank

I have been meaning to go since those first flights up to Manchester when there was still a service from Manston. It's a white metal monster that looms out the window against the green of the countryside.

All these years on we get out to spend a day there, and it is a monster. Big things are big. Big things are "move your head around to take it all in" big. Built in the late 50's it's things of this scale that remind you "Hey, we really did go to the moon didn't we?". Well done Mr Lovell - more BIG thinking required in this day and age.

Point of Ayr

Saturday evening, after a particularly fine dinner, I took it upon myself to go and get my shoes and tripod covered in sand/mud. After quite a pleasant day, of blue skies and light cloud it had unfortunately clouded over, but there is always chance in these things. Alas after lens physics and the fact the lighthouse (with a taper in) appears to actually lean into the waves (as if bracing itself) - so despite this being somewhat distracting i think they worked out okay - some more pictures from Talacra beach and lighthouse can be found here.

A lack of rain

Weather promised us much wetness. Boots, over-trousers, coats, picnic, nephews, short car journey. We set off expecting to head back soaked to the skin after a day spent wandering around in the big blue room observing creatures that on the whole are impervious to the stuff.

We had a fine day at Pen-y-ffrith bird park, up on 'the shelf' between Llambedr DC and the top of the Nant-y-garth. Lovely dry day, lovely views, plenty to see. Oh, and yes, I took my camera...
